This is the beginning of third year of an existence I never imagined I will be living- being financially dependent on someone.

I am absolutely at my patience’s end and am hundred percent sincere about trying any genuine free lance job on writing, that is I write and you pay, I am not keen to hit jackpot, fair payment will be fine enough for me.

I will like to clearly tell the robbers looking for fools to dupe to keep off – this one is too experienced to fall for your traps. I have tried for years to get a genuine, fair paying home-based job; the last time I was duped was in 2008 by a phony medical transcription institute, it gobbled up 30000 rupee and almost an years hard work, left me really sick in guts. Well, I am ready to take chances again but no longer being fooled. So, if any literary agent thinks that my works are worth it, I won’t mind sharing profits with him/ her; the percentage or fees for services will be negotiable. But please, don’t ask me to get a membership first, speak in trustworthy language. Or, any genuine publisher, publishing agency can gladly contact me, I will consider paying the fees if I think the offer isgenuine and reasonable.

A cyclone in kolkata (25.05.09)?

I went to sleep on Sunday night at my usual hour, 2 AM. Half asleep I heard rain falling and listened to it for a while and just loved it, as I knew I will not have to go out in the water logged streets in the morning. Like I had till last year, crossing kilometres in knee deep water to reach office or home, praying that I don’t get sucked in some manhole or break my leg by falling in some ditch.

Then the power went off and came again, it was repeated few times. Finally I woke up at 11 AM, when I went to the outer room it was still raining, I went to the window and opened it and saw that it was drizzling and the trees were gently swaying.

By that time the power has gone.. vanished, little did I knew that it will return the next day at 5 PM, I thought it will be back after the rain stops.

Then slowly the wind started to gather speed , the coconut trees started to shake, but as I have seen storms in small town, where the coconut trees bow down as if they will snap any minute, I was not alarmed. I enjoyed the thing for hours just standing at the window and glaring at the light bulb hoping it to start burning again.

Very frankly I was surprised when I read the news today. I would have been shocked if my brother has not informed me about a cyclone striking Kolkata (via phone) from another state.

In a metro filled with houses its not possible to feel a cyclone from a storm. I still remember when the horrible cyclone came down on bangladesh in 1998 or so I was in my hometown and the sound of the wind was so scary that I could not sleep for hours.

Aila came, visited us and left after uprooting ample amount of trees and lampposts and electric poles.. but I loved that dance of rain and wind. It was a divine tango, I just stood watching it, listening to rabindrasangit.. ei shrabaner buker bhitar agun aachhe… these clouds hide a fire within their soul.

I spent the day writing poems and reading books.
